Tying a Convertible: ZZ Troutski’s Fly Box

Filed under Fly Fishing & Tying

The convertible fly was invented by Scott Sanchez. This fly is very versatile, I use it for stonefly hatches, drakes, hoppers and hexagenias. I have used this fly from the Bob Marshall Wilderness to spring creeks in central Montana, with great success. The Convertible is easy to tie. Materials needed are as follows; moose mane, dubbing, poly wing material, dry fly hackle, rubber leg material, Dai-Riki hook 210, 6/0 thread. This fly will work in a multitude of colors, yellow, green, rust, black, burnt brown, or any color to match the hatch on your streams. Tight Lines Everyone.
