Mom & Her Boys!
Even the thought of the dreaded ‘family vacation’ makes Mom and Dad’s hearts race, knowing what agony can occur if the two kids decide they just aren’t happy with the place you picked out. But…the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort was truly a ‘winner!’
The fun began when we entered the village of St. Simon’s and the kids stared up at the lighthouse as if it was some Egyptian treasure they could explore. Even my husband sounded like a giddy schoolboy again as he talked about visiting the historical Fort where he and the boys could go back in time and become the soldiers that would definitely win it all!
Mom (that’s me, by the way) got giddy the moment I saw the King and Prince come into view. It was sparkling, majestic – a true oasis that I knew had the King and Prince Royal Treatment Cottage offering massages that would melt away all the stress of the past year. Oh, yeah, that’s exactly where Mom was headed when the boys decided to play in their fort!
When we made our way to the Oleander Room, I threw myself on the loveseat and practically screamed ‘Hallelujah!’ Not only was this a perfect room, with a luxurious bathroom that I would be spending ALOT of time in, but one of the other amenities was a fridge. Talk about saving money! I could transfer all the groceries into the available fridge for my little tykes. And the huge flat screen T.V. would definitely come in handy, seeing as that sports still ran on Sundays – even in Paradise.
After a swim and a stroll on the beach, we rented Banana Bikes. They look like a grown-up version of the Big Wheel, the kids had to wait their turn… Ha! Afterwards, we headed to the village. Wow! The shops were beautiful, and my boys were elated as they picked out some super-cool kites that we could later fly in the crystal-clear blue sky. What else causes a meltdown for males? Food! And when the sign for Hot Dog Alley appeared, where locals spoke about the awesome midday snack of Polish sausage with slaw on the side, the boys practically drooled. But after much consideration (whining, that is) it was pizza that won out, as everyone in the neighborhood seemed to be running into Sal’s. Talk about packed! You know a place has good food when everyone seems to be coming in droves. And you know what? We are talking the BEST New York Style Pizza I’ve ever had. And that’s coming from a girl who lived in Brooklyn for years! (http://www.salsneighborhoodpizzeria.com)
What else did we hit? The Neptune Park Fun Zone Pool and Mini-Golf, which was a total blast! I knew my boys had the time of their lives, because as we got back to the King and Prince, they could barely keep their eyes open – completely exhausted from all the fun.
Walking back into our oasis, my trio of ‘men’ practically passed out on the massive beds (not before turning on the TV, of course. I mean, some things never change – even on vacation).
Tiptoeing from the room, I only had one thought on my mind…Royal Treatment Cottage here I come!!
