Osage Beach, that is… Shelby, I, and Reuben (the spoiled canine) moved on from the thrilling and relaxing time we had in St. Louis to follow the gigantic MassageLuXe ‘X’ to the next ‘must-see’ spot on my list. Yes…we wanted to head to a smaller community – one with sand, relaxation and beauty in the dead heat of this summer that seems to
be showing us a preview of what it would feel like to actually live in the depths of a volcano. But, I must say, the lovely people we’ve met, the sunning places we have seen and the tremendous massages that we have gotten in the MassageLuXe franchises along the way, have made this the best vacation ever. Shelby didn’t have a great amount of time to whine about being on the road; even the dog – who at one point gave me the evil eye in the rearview mirror – was happy as a clam. Perhaps he had gotten used to the idea that when ‘Mommy’ got a massage he got one, too, at a local animal spa that catered to his every whim. Osage Beach was the locale we headed into and were immediately stunned by the beauty of the area. As we drove in, we saw the signs for their ‘Osage Beach Fall Festival’ happening in September and we secretly wished that we could get away with staying that long in order to be a part of it. We read all about the kids activities that included a petting zoo, tons of arts and craft booths, adopt-a-pet and pet booths (which would be seriously difficult for us considering the fact that Reuben would have a mate in the car for the rest of our trip because we just can’t walk away from a puppy who needs a home). All of this reminded me of my own hometown fall festivals and I felt a twinge of sadness. But the ‘X’ was calling out to me – telling both Shelby and I to enjoy. After all, when we got back home the festivals would be just beginning to usher in the Autumn season. As we walked through the city of Osage Beach, it was really lovely. In fact, Shelby got a kick out of the fact that it was once called Zebra, and was nothing more than a small town with a post office. Zebra, however, had a big hand in history when they created the Bagnell Dam which then created one the largest man-made lakes in the U.S. – The Lake of the Ozarks. Now, the City of Osage Beach is still considered the ‘Heart of the Lake of the Ozarks’ and is truly beautiful. And part of that amazing beauty comes in the form of two parks called: Peanick Park and the Osage Beach City Park. Peanick Park offers everything from ball fields to horseshoe pits; pavilions to basketball courts, and our family had a truly thrilling time roaming along the walking trail and meeting the very polite and fun townspeople along the way. Yes, before you ask, Reuben was the real hit. The Osage Beach City Park was also stunning. Ninety-two acres that were completely surrounded by the Lake of the Ozarks and the Lake of the Ozarks Park, which is the largest State Park system in Missouri. For one beautiful day the family had a great time at the fully-stocked fishing pond (which made Reuben drool, although he is SO spoiled that his fish needs to be already grilled and on a chef’s prepared plate before he’ll take a bite). The pavilions, a playground, the three lighted soccer fields, and a beautiful new Sports Complex that was just constructed, made Osage Beach stand out. From the 300’ fields with a press box, state-of-the-art scoreboards, and concession facilities, I almost felt as if I was back in the time period when the real baseball players of old began knocking them out of the park on their way to legendary careers. In fact, the actual city of Osage Park seemed to be the perfect place to have a MassageLuXe business. After all, the philosophy of MassageLuXe is to “deliver the highest quality massage by providing a comfortable,
relaxing, and luxurious environment to all of our clients.” And when Shelby and I saw the ‘X’ (again, like the mother ship calling us home), we were thrilled with the stunning décor of the MassageLuXe world. The spa was decorated in those warm, earth tones with slate flooring, an indoor waterfall, and cultured stone walls. It certainly ’shouted out’ to the fact that MassageLuXe is a company that is there for the client! Offering services that are well above their competitors, everything was perfect. The relaxation room was stunning – a place where all the clients can unwind before or after their massage, and the variety of massages were on the menu in Osage Beach – from Swedish, aromatherapy, hot stone, deep-tissue, pregnancy, reflexology, sports to back massages. But as a unique touch, this particular MassageLuXe offered a hot towel warmer in each treatment room to help with all the tired muscles and ease their clients into a deep state of relaxation. My theory? There is no way I could do any actual work if I moved to Osage Beach. I mean…think about it? Walking trails, baseball, stunning parks, recreation AND a place where I could simply walk in the door and have a hot towel just waiting for me? Nope. No work would occur at all. Of course…there is that retirement age, right? Definitely something to look forward to!! My advice? Osage Beach is a city to visit! The ‘X’ found in this city marks a true treasure on any traveler’s map! Until Next Time, Everybody. Amy MassageLuXe Franchise 4036 Osage Beach Parkway Suite 200 Osage Beach, MO 65065
