Two More Great Shows On Sale “SAUCER SERIES”

Flying Saucer Presents is joining with the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall to present the Saucer Series, a celebration of Americana music.

From the iconic to the up-and-coming, the series will feature top tier artists, whose styles cut across a variety of music genres.

This week, two new seated shows in the series will go on sale, this Friday, August 17^th at10am at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and St. Augustine Amphitheatre box offices, online at findmytix.com, by phone at 800-745-3000, and all Ticketmaster outlets.

After 20 years in the music biz, self-described “Little Folksinger” Ani DiFranco is still technically little, although her influence on fellow musicians, activists, and indie-minded people the world over has been huge. She still proudly identifies as a folksinger, too, but her understanding of that term has always been far more expansive than a bin at the record store or a category on iTunes, with ample room for soul, funk, jazz, electronic music, spoken word, and a marching band or two. Over the course of more than 20 albums, including the live double CD Living in Clip (1997) and the two-disc career retrospective Canon (2007), as well as the latest one, ¿Which Side are You On? (2012), Ani has never stopped evolving, experimenting, testing the limits of what can be said and sung. Her lifelong tribe of co-conspirators includes everyone from Pete Seeger and the late Utah Phillips to a new generation of twentysomething singer-songwriters who grew up with her songs and shows — and then there’s the motley crew of folks like Prince, Maceo Parker, Andrew Bird, Dr. John, Arto Lindsay, Bruce Springsteen, Chuck D, the Buffalo Philharmonic, Gillian Welch, Cyndi Lauper, and even Burmese activist and Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, with whom she has crossed paths in a myriad of ways.

Singer-songwriter Steve Forbert had his first major hit in 1979 when he was only 25 years old, shortly after moving to New York City from his hometown of Meridian, Miss where he had been working as a truck driver Thirty-plus years later, he’s still writing acclaimed songs and has released 14 studio albums, including a Grammy-nominated tribute to another Mississippi legend, Jimmie Rodgers. He performs around the world and even finds time to pursue his latest artistic adventure, this time in photography: an exhibit of his cell phone photographs recently opened at aNashville art gallery.

Carrie Rodriguez‘ professional career was launched in 2001 after a show at South By Southwest introduced her to Chip Taylor (famed songwriter of “Wild Thing”), with whom she has recorded four full albums and an EP. Her musical development started much earlier at the hands of an equally seasoned songwriting veteran, her father David Rodriquez. She sings and plays the fiddle, mandobird and tenor guitar, and has toured the world with Taylor, Lucinda Williams and Alejandro Escovedo, and has recorded eight albums in as many years.
